ดราก้อนบอล - ภาคเด็ก [จบ]

กาลครั้งหนึ่ง มีเด็กชายคนหนึ่งชื่อซุนโกคู อาศัยอยู่ในป่าลึก โกคูมีความพิเศษตรงที่มีหางเหมือนลิง และมีพละกำลังที่มากกว่าคนปกติ อีกทั้งยังมีฝีมือในด้านการต่อสู้ที่ซุนโกฮัง ผู้เป็นปู่บุญธรรมได้ฝึกไว้ให้ วันหนึ่งซุนโกคูได้พบกับเด็กสาวคนหนึ่งชื่อ บูลม่า เธอได้เล่าเรื่องต่างๆของลูกแก้วที่ตนตามหา และโกคูเองก็มีอยู่ลูกหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นของดูต่างหน้าของปู่โกฮังที่เสียไป ซึ่งก็คือดราก้อนบอล ลูกแก้วที่มีดาวอยู่ภายใน ถ้ารวบรวมดราก้อนบอลได้ครบ 7 ลูกจะมีเทพมังกรปรากฏตัว

และจะบันดาลพรให้เป็นจริงหนึ่งประการ ซึ่งการพบกันของเด็กทั้ง 2 คนนับได้ว่าเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของตำนานดราก้อนบอลเลยทีเดียว การผจญภัยของโกคูและบูลม่าก็ได้เริ่มขึ้น จากนั้นก็ได้พบกับเซียนเต่า ซึ่งเขาได้มอบเมฆสีทองให้แก่โกคู เพราะเขาได้ช่วยเต่าทะเลที่เป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงของเซียนเต่า อีกทั้งได้อูลอน หยำฉา กับปูอัลมาเป็นพรรคพวกร่วมเดินทางตามหาดราก้อนบอลด้วย

ตอนท้ายของการเดินทาง พวกโกคูรวบรวมดราก้อนบอลได้ครบ 7 ลูกได้แล้วทว่าได้ถูกปิลาฟชิงไป พวกโกคูจึงจำเป็นที่จะต้องชิงขอพรตัดหน้า เพื่อที่จะไม่ให้ถูกใช้ในทางที่ชั่วร้าย ปิลาฟแค้นมากที่อดขอพรจึงจะทรมานพวกโกคู ทันใดนั้นโกคูได้มองดวงจันทร์เต็มดวงจึงแปลงร่างเป็นลิงยักษ์และทำลายฐานของ ปิลาฟจนสิ้นซาก พวกบูลม่าเห็นท่าไม่ดีจึงลองตัดหางของโกคูออก ซึ่งหางนั้นก็เป็นจุดอ่อนของโกคูจึงคืนร่างเดิม ต่อมาโกคูก็ฟื้นคืนสติแต่ตนไม่รู้เรื่องว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นกับตัวเอง จากนั้นทุกคนก็ได้แยกย้ายกันไป พวกบูลม่าไปยังบ้านที่เมืองหลวงตะวันตก ส่วนโกคูเองก็ไปฝึกวิชากับเซียนเต่า
